Sony has officially launched a new portable headphone Amplifier called PHA-2 which is high resolution portable DAC/Amplifier.This device is designed to provide better sound production from several audio sources and it claims to be the first portable amplifier to be compatible with most high-resolution digital file formats.
This device is compatible with formats including 192 kHz/24-bit PCM and both DSD (2.8MHz) and Double DSD (5.6MHz).This Amplifier is built to use MP3 files and other audio sources.This amplifier supports a Asynchronous Transport Mode which uses a single generator to reduce timing errors for better audio quality. This device also supports a dual power supply operation providing more stable and accurate sound reproduction.
This hardware will be enclosed in a durable aluminum chassis and also have an internal rechargeable battery allowing it to be used on the go. The PHA-2 High-Res Portable Amplifier can be connected to a PC or Mac computers using USB 2.0. ports. This amplifier also have a dedicated digital input for iPod, iPhone, and iPads. An analog audio input is available for Android smartphones and other digital music players.With digital connections this amplifier works for 6.5 hours of playback per charge while with analog connection it works for 17 hours per charge.The amplifier will be available in March 2014 for $599.99.
